instructor-led training

Odoo Functional Training: Sale, CRM, Accounting & Project

A complete 8-week course that takes students from a blank Odoo database to a working, integrated business: leads become quotations, quotations become invoices, invoices become financial statements, and services get planned, timed, and billed through Project. Every module ends with a hands-on lab; the course ends with a graded capstone implementation.

course overview

This course is designed for instructors teaching Odoo as a functional ERP skill: no coding, no developer tools — just the apps a business user, implementation consultant, or admin needs to run Sales, CRM, Accounting, and Project day to day.

Each module follows the same rhythm: concept walkthrough, instructor demo, guided lab, and an independent exercise. The four modules connect into one story — a single fictitious company that students build up week by week — so by the capstone, nothing is disconnected practice; it is one coherent implementation.

  • Prerequisite: basic computer literacy, no accounting/coding background required
  • Class size: works for 1-on-1 or up to ~20 students
  • Delivery: in-person, live online, or self-paced with checkpoints
  • Each student needs their own Odoo database (Odoo Online free trial, Odoo.sh, or a shared training instance)

curriculum

Module 1 — Sales

Weeks 1–2 · 6 sessions

Students configure a product catalog and pricelists for a fictitious trading company, then run quotations end to end through delivery and invoicing.

Sessions

  1. Sales app setup — company, products, units of measure, sales teams
  2. Quotation templates, terms & conditions, online signature/payment
  3. Pricelists & discounts — fixed, percentage, formula-based, customer-specific
  4. Sales order lifecycle — confirmation, delivery, invoicing policy (ordered vs. delivered)
  5. Sales analysis & forecasting — pivot views, sales team dashboard
  6. Lab: build a 15-item product catalog with 2 pricelists

Lab & deliverable

Independent exercise: process 10 quotations for 10 different customers, apply at least 2 pricelists, confirm 6 into sales orders, and generate their invoices.

Module 2 — CRM

Week 3 · 5 sessions

Students design a pipeline, populate it with leads, and practice moving opportunities through to a won handoff into Sales.

Sessions

  1. CRM overview — leads vs. opportunities, pipeline & stage configuration
  2. Lead capture — manual entry, website form, email alias, lead scoring rules
  3. Activities & communication — call/meeting scheduling, activity types, mail templates
  4. Pipeline management — Kanban drag-drop, lost reasons, win/loss review
  5. CRM → Sales handoff and pipeline/forecast reporting

Lab & deliverable

Independent exercise: build a 4-stage pipeline, add 15 sample leads, run them through activities to won or lost, convert 3 won opportunities into quotations, and produce a pipeline forecast report.

Module 3 — Accounting

Weeks 4–6 · 9 sessions

The largest module. Students set up the books for the same fictitious company, post a quarter of transactions, reconcile the bank, and close the period.

Sessions

  1. Accounting setup — fiscal year, chart of accounts, journals, taxes
  2. Customer invoicing — from sales order, credit notes, payment terms
  3. Vendor bills & purchases — 3-way matching, vendor payments
  4. Bank & cash — statement import, reconciliation, bank sync
  5. Multi-currency & intercompany transactions
  6. Fixed assets & depreciation
  7. Financial reporting — P&L, Balance Sheet, aged receivables/payables, cash flow
  8. Month-end close — accruals, provisions, closing entries, audit trail
  9. Lab: full accounting cycle for one simulated fiscal quarter

Lab & deliverable

Independent exercise: post 20 customer invoices and vendor bills, reconcile a full bank statement, run the aged receivables/payables report, and close the quarter with a produced P&L and Balance Sheet.

Module 4 — Project

Week 7 · 5 sessions

Students plan a short client project, track time against it, and bill the client from logged hours — closing the loop back into Accounting.

Sessions

  1. Project setup — templates, stages, tags, access & privacy
  2. Task management — subtasks, dependencies, priorities, Kanban/List/Gantt views
  3. Timesheets — logging time, approval workflow, timesheet reports
  4. Project billing — time & material invoicing, fixed-price milestones, linking to a sales order
  5. Project profitability — cost vs. revenue, burndown, resource planning

Lab & deliverable

Independent exercise: plan a 4-week project with at least 10 tasks, log timesheets across 3 team members, generate a time & material invoice, and review the profitability report.

Module 5 — Capstone: full integration

Week 8 · 4 sessions

Students trace and rebuild the complete flow — Lead → Opportunity → Quotation → Sales Order → (Project, if a service) → Delivery → Customer Invoice → Payment → Accounting entries → Financial report — for a new mock client, then sit a practical exam.

Sessions

  1. Case study walkthrough — a services company selling subscriptions needing CRM + Sales + Project + Accounting together
  2. Capstone build — students configure the 4 apps for a new mock client from a blank database
  3. Capstone build — run one full business cycle: a lead through to a paid, reconciled invoice and a delivered project
  4. Presentations & practical exam

Capstone deliverable

Graded submission: a configured Odoo database plus a short presentation (10–15 min) showing the CRM pipeline, the quotation-to-invoice trail, the reconciled bank statement, the P&L/Balance Sheet, and — if the mock client sells services — a billed, profitable project.

assessment & certification

Grading breakdown

Attendance & lab completion — 20% Module quizzes (4) — 30% Capstone project — 40% Practical exam — 10%

Each module ends with a short quiz (10–15 questions) checking configuration knowledge, not memorization — screenshots of a real database state, "what would you click next" style questions. Labs are graded pass/fail against a checklist (e.g. "pricelist applied and visible on the quotation").

Certificate

Students scoring 70% or above overall, with a passing capstone submission, receive an "Odoo Functional Foundations — Sale, CRM, Accounting & Project" certificate. Instructors can issue it under their own training brand or co-branded with Sky Bridge Business Solution.
